Tripod

Summary:
URL- http://www.tripod.com
Description- A copycat Popup violator. They used to have plain-old-banners on every page. But, after GeoCities started using Popup ads, Tripod did too. They are simple to disarm just follow the instructions listed below.

Special thanks to Underground H@VOCK for sending this one in.

When you use a CJB address to redirect to your Tripod account it will automatically kill the popup ad! I believe this is because CJB puts in a mini-frame on your page to hide the real URL. Since Tripod sees that your page has frames, it doesn't insert the Popup code. Who cares why it works! Try it out! You can follow the link above on his name.

Many other people have written to tell me that the Super Script works great on Tripod pages.

Another suggestion sent in by someone is: remove the HEAD tags from your Tripod page:

<HTML>
<BODY>

<!-- Your page heres -->

Here is YAWTKTPB (yet another way to kill Tripod popup banners):

<HTML>
<META Crap="
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Your Page Title</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<!-- your homepage goes here -->

Although this solution does work, someone wrote to tell me that it is completely incompatible with Microsoft Front Page. It seems that Front Page see the open META tag as a mistake (DUH!) and automatically corrects it for you. This causes you to have to re-open the file in another text editor and re-insert the code each time you edit your page. So, if you want an alternative to this solution check out the Super Script instead.

On a personal note here - I use HomeSite 3.0 exclusively as my HTML editor. It rocks! When you are editing pages you don't want your editor trying to make decisions for you. You need to be in control of your code - do yourselves a favor - LEARN HTML !!!
