DMOZ thinks we're cool!

The Open Directory Project (dmoz) was created by Netscape, or more specifically- Mozilla, to try to categorize and organize Web sites. It is maintained by people rather than machines. In March of 1999 we were informed that they were starting a new anti-popup category (Ways to Remove Pop Up Banners). But, maybe this was a bit controversial. They have since renamed the category to Web Hosting: Free Webspace: Pop Up Banners. But, it is still cool that they have even created a category! DMOZ has officially elected us as a "Cool Site"! (We even have a gold star next to our listing...)

This, to my knowledge, is the FIRST time that a large, search-engine or major directory has acknowledged publicly the fact that people want a category for popup ads. Yahoo! has some general and vague listings under 'Free Homepage Providers > Geocities > Opinions'. But, nothing specifically about how to disable popup ads.

It seems that anyone that openly critiques the Advertisers for using Popup Ad banners is left out of the Yahoo! directory for some reason. Yours Truly has tried to get this site listed there 3 or 4 times with no luck at all. Hmmm... I wonder if the fact that they OWN GeoCities has anything to do with it??? So, according to the biggest search-engine online, people just LOVE Popup ads on their site! If in doubt, be like Yahoo! and deny it...

Anyhow, please support the Open Directory Project - http://www.dmoz.org.
They are REAL people who are REAL cool! As they mentioned on one of their pages:

"HUMANS do it better"
