She is a God to every character she’ll create, Every story gives her another life to live An escape from the part of herself she can’t forgive From the hopelessness of her own fate Searching for a cure in the letters of black, Searching for the peace she feels she’ll never have back.
Never trust, never turn your back; She lives by such rules she was forced to create , Never hope for light in a world so black; This is the only way she knows how to live. She wants desperately to be in control of her own fate To love, to trust, and to forgive
Is there a God above, willing to forgive? A power strong enough to bring her courage back ? Is live a choice, or a predetermined fate? How can God be real, how can this be a world he’d create? She wants to want to live She talks to God, but the sky is black.
Cyan turns ashen as vermilion fades to black Such neglect is too unbearable to forgive She retreats inside to find a made up life to live In her stories, Jesus always talks back; An escape is built into every fantasy she’ll create Assigning her character a flawless fate.
As demons battle for the command of her fate, She writes until the ink turns each hand black. Scribbling metaphors and allegory she was born to create In her poetry, she finds the ability to forgive In her settings, she paints a heaven with no black In her stories, she finds the desire again to live
When fear makes every day harder to live When every path leads to a damned fate When people walk away and don’t look back She guards her heart from turning black. She emerges with the strength to forgive She smiles, living in a heaven only she could create.
Does God forgive? Does God create? She chooses not to fall back, she chooses to live; You make your own life white or black for character is fate.
(This is called a sestina, it is so hard to write a good poem with this method, but it forces you to be creative depending on the difficulties and relations of the pre-chosen words. This poem is inspired by the life and works of Sylvia Plath, if you know much about her then it's probably obvious to you why but if you don't pick up uThe Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath/u the next chance you have it's unbelievable how inspiring this woman is). |
