No Surrender (Sonnet)

Below my safe haven citadel
Destruction and choas unfold.
You invade, I crawl into my shell
Pretending my exit makes me bold

These shields won’t pass the test of time;
These weapons will soon crumble.
I’ll be forced to see myself in your eyes
While I fail, and fall, and stumble.

Will I submit beneath your coercion?
And throw my hands up in defeat
Will I watch you sneer in your assertion?
That I’ll promptly kiss your callous feet

No! I will not cower or surrender; I will stand up and fight;
I’d rather die than live in fear of you all my life.

my attempt at writing a sonnet, not amazing but I'm half awake ;)
