The Making Of A Memory

Old spice and spearmint gum
How could such a scent ever fade?
The melody you chose to hum...
Every note that you made me become
Our paradise too precious for words to invade.

Heaven seems overrated here.
As I sleep beside an angel, skin to skin,
God please let this second last all year
If nothing but us could just disappear
Keep the world from rushing in.

Emerald eyes welcome me today
From dreams unworthy of a blink.
I want to stare forever and never look away,
His lips curve skyward as I pray
That not even slumber shall separate this link.

Forever etched like a vivid art piece
Or a fairytale so poignant one must memorize
This is a memory which I will not release
A folded photograph that never has a crease
Of happiness too real for this poem to describe.
