They Don't Love You

Did you notice, did you notice
When my heart just broke in two
When my soul cried out for you
I trailed behind, stuck in time
Like toilet paper stuck on your shoe

You’re being tugged at from all angles
Stalked by those who never took the chance to see
What made you special, what made you unique
Now that you’ve grown up they love you so much
But they don’t love you as much as me

I’ll out bid them, no matter what it costs
Anything to keep you whole
To turn you away from that predefined role
Don’t let them change your name
Don’t let them sell your soul

Brush me off or turn me away
And my pain you disregard
Blue eyes now so dark
When you look at me do you remember what you used to be
And do you hate the person you now are

All grown up you stand so tall
But inside you remain empty
Did your fake friends make you happy?
Have you changed enough for them to love you so much
To love you as you were once loved by me
