Pheonix

Fallen angel
She keeps her eyes on the skies above
Holding on to the little that’s left
Anything to be loved
They held her down
Chained to the pain and told to stay
Promising she’d never fall
If she remained that way
They ripped her open
They tore her up
Smiling as she crumbled
As her soul turned into dust
Something different can never be beautiful
Something distinct would never be accepted
They washed white the colors they had never seen
Terrified, so they wrecked it
Robots, machines
Programmed to hate what they don’t understand
She reached out in faith and dependence
Just to find herself torn apart by their hands
Leave a rose
Pay your last respect
Convince yourself it’s not your fault
You’re not responsible for the one you wrecked
One day they will be stopped
The prejudice and bigotry will finally end
And as you fall the last thing you will see
Is her rising from the ashes once again
