Love (and Death) at First Sight

First Sight
talking at the party
about politics, the economy
although i'd rather not
what else can i do

suddenly
i see
a beauty
across the room
through the corner of my eye
wearing the red dress
standing next to some guy
and the world seems to stop
our eyes meet
she looks like a princess
sophisticated and neat

soon though, she walks away
another way
another day
someday for us
another day

Telephone Conversation
"Man, who was that girl at your party last night?"

"Which girl?"

"She was that angel in the red dress."

"Oh, her. Yeah I know her. Name's Julia. Why?"

"Why? I think I'm in love."

"Heh, funny you should say that. Got a call from her a little bit ago. She said the same about you."

"You serious? Wow."

"Now don't get too excited. I've known her a while. She's broken many a hearts in her day. I don't wanna see you get hurt."

"Oh, don't worry about me. So, you think you could, you know, kinda set something up for me?"

"I'm warning ya."

"I know I know, but c'mon man. Please?"

"Fine. I'll call her and set something up, then I'll call ya back."

"Thanks man. I owe ya one. I'll talk to ya later." (click)

"He doesn't know what he's getting himself into."

Wishing
wishing for you tonight
i need you tonight
not sure if i can survive
until morning light
without seeing your face
damn this space
between your soul and mine
the shortest distance between two points
is a straight line
but there must be something
keeping me from you
something making our line askew
wishing for you tonight
share my love with you tonight

Our Relationship
our first night together
floated like a dream
and along the way
my vision became clearer
we became nearer
with each moment we grew closer
you valued my security
while i enjoyed your companionship
days became weeks
and weeks, months
our love grew almost exponentially
we climbed to the summit that fateful night
and discovered love like no other

Connection
innocence is lost among
mounds of clothing torn off
in almost savage moments
of passion
captured in the night
by two wandering souls
soon to become one
evening bliss

Heaven Known As Julia
love is the closest thing
we have to heaven on earth
a landslide of emotion
our souls united
when i am with you Julia
i'm in heaven

Morning After
awaken by rays of sun
peering through my apartment window
waking up satisfied, but alone
wondering where you had to go

gathering my clothes from the floor
signs of the love we made the night before
the closest connection, soul to soul
sexual prowlness, yet so pure and whole

to the window, look at the city
but what should i see
my heart exploding before me

there you are
hand in hand with another man
leading you into his car
Mercedes-Benz
one long passionate kiss
and you rode away

Bitter Goodbye
"Hi, I'm not home right now. Leave me one, ok?" (beep)

"Oh, I guess you're out with your other man. Oh yeah, I saw you two, so happy together. I wonder, does this stooge know about me? Or have you got him as ignorant as you had me? I shoulda listened to my friend. He was right. You are a two-timing whore. Two-faced too. I thought we really had something here, but I guess I was the only one thinking that. I never want to see you again. You're nothing but a ..." (beep)

Desert Rose
i see your true form now

desert rose
true thorns exposed
under the light of the jaded moon

bring the men in
let the games begin
but you end it so soon

sow your evil seeds
the vision blurred
time for you to manipulate him
with your innocent sounding words

walk into his heart
rip it apart
and all the while
he's wearing a smile
unaware
of the pain he bears

and when you're through hurting him
every square inch
outside and in
end the game
throw him out
bring in another one
hurry up
time is running out

desert rose
receding beauty
your true form for all to see

desert rose
true thorns exposed
under the light of the jaded moon

strangely though, over time
i find myself wanting her
more than ever before
she has wounded me
yet now i need her
more than ever before

Sanctuary
first, i was angry
but now it's clear to see
how much you mean to me

cold, the frozen tears i cry
my aching heart is paralyzed
filled with so much sorrow
yet i feel empty and hollow
pain is my sanctuary
where i worship memory
regret, my mind so narrow
half-dead i lie on desalation row
i can still see your face in my mind
as i learn to forget
try and forget
the pain and the lies
as i begin to realize
just how much losing you
has hurt me

to not love you is madness

To Kill Thy Self, or to Suffer Another Day Without Her
I
i remember my initial sight
she stood in pure clean light
standing in my own black fright
nothing else seemed so right

how i finally met you
and i finally asked you
and you
answered yes

you must've seen in my
the same beauty i had with you
and when we first kissed
my life was renewed

for a time
we created our own heaven
for which to live and breathe together in

and yes, i remember
the sight so grim
you kissing and riding away with him
you destroyed the love we made
hacking away with a dull rusty blade
at my heart
tear it apart

yet i miss you so
and now i must know
can i live another day without you?
the answer is no
so what else can i do
but end my life

II
living without you
isn't living at all

so let's end it all
end it all
let's end it all
what's the point of living anymore?
if i can't have you
why live anymore?

Suicide
slit the wrist
death smiles
on the blade of the
shimmering silver knife

slit the wrist
watch the blood
violently flow
witness the end of your life

slit the wrist
puncture the skin
there will be no more pain
where you're going

slit the wrist
scream in agony
warm and red
your blood flowing

fall to a heap on the floor
no one can hurt you anymore
than her, red dress, golden hair
you've died for her
she doesn't care
she may cry
but she will never care
