Tail lights in the dark
that's all I see
you never knew
how much you meant
to me
I never told you
and you never asked
a love that never was
lust that couldn't last
my thoughts go back
to that awful day
when I stood
in the road
and watched you
drive away

reeling
my heart
clenching
my soul
turning inside out.
I stood there
and stared
hoping beyond
hope
that you'd turn around
and come bck
But all I could see
were tail lights
