In the darkness all my senses grew As my sight departed for places new; Feeling out with hands acute I heard the playing of the lute.
I followed it with hands aseeking Until I came to oldest Peking; I`d travelled half around the world All the way the dark enswirled;
But this child`s music drew me on, And as I neared the dark was gone. In his innocent eyes I found, A reason for that haunting sound;
A love that came from innocence, Had taken me and drawn me hence, And deep within his pretty eyes, I found the secrets of our lies.
Out of darkness I was drawn, To see the reddest, sweetest dawn.
