First day jitters

Standing in the corner
Afraid to enter
Making the shadows
My new home
I am not just scared
I am frightened
Out of my mind

I don’t know
Anyone here
As I watch the kids
Just play together
and laugh happily
I remain silent
In my corner
Nothing will ever
Take my life away

Then someone comes over to me
With a warm and welcoming
sweet hand
She wants to play a game
But she knows that
she can’t play alone
and she needs someone
to help her out
and she chooses me
out of all the kids
In the classroom
How special I must feel
How great it truly does

Her Name is Clowey
and as I watch this girl
with the red pretty hair
and her eyes as blue
as the morning sky
then I am glad that
she was my first friend
That I have ever made
my first day of school
