The Opening

Off in the distance
Sounds a loud insistence
of wildness and will
the howl sends a chill
Your blood runs cold
Your mind fills with stories of old
Your throat goes dry
You're ready to fly
Turning to leave
a twig snags your sleeve
The howling ceases
Your heart beat increases
And there before you gaping
Stands your prevention from escaping
For fear there is no need
The wolf's not planning to feed
You stare at him and he stares back
In his eyes you see know plan to attack
The minutes tick by slowly
Compared this perfection you feel lowly
Blinking in disbelief
It turns to your relief
You watch it go
Sighing just so
you shake it off and return home
remember the solmness of the wolf as stone
questions flood your mind
you lay down to dream and find
the answers.
