Night Battle

Night, you come silent,
Your quiet, dark platoon,
Night, you come silent,
Why do you come so soon?

The day is conquered, and your sleepless army marches across the sky,
The North Star is in the watchman's tower, acting as your eye
General Moon is scouting the skies from his silent keep,
While down below goes on the onslaught of Lieutenant Sleep,

The private stars stand at the ready to follow your command,
Your almighty reign of darkness is already at hand
Silence dances with Corporal Wind over every tree and bush,
When the daylight artillery rushes in with a powerful ambush!

Commander Dawn has seized thee, and left thine army slain,
The Sun king has come up now,And crushed your midnight reign,
He moves in troops yet leaves you, the king, to merely die,
You fall behind the mighty hills, and in their crevices lie

Night, you die silent,
But you'll reign again, you must,
For as Night must fall to Dawn, Day must fall to dusk...
