SLOWLY MELTING
She shuts herself in the bathroom, waiting for daylight to break She tries to stop the tears she wishes were oh so fake She stares at her reflection, her face blurring before her eyes She slides down to the floor Looks at the ceiling and cries She wonders how everything became confusing How everything toppled so fast She thought happiness meant forever But wishes never seem to last She laughs at herself for believing Thinking for a minute it was all real And now she sits next to the sink Slowly watching the wallpaper peel
She blocks out the pounding on the door And turns the faucet on She glares at the running water going down And watches it disappear, forever gone Her life was always like that though It made no difference to her at all She always knew dreams wouldn't come true And no one was ever there to catch her fall She climbs up to the small window Her only key to the outside world And her sadness gets deeper As the weather turns harshly cold The tears are left to dry on her cheeks She's too hurt to wipe them away with her fingers Slowly, she melts inside her body Her existence of thoughts are all that lingers
