Fallen Angel

Twilight breaks and the sun disappears

The faint whispers of stars look like fallen angels from the sky

As I sit here staring at the moon's reflecting glow, I can feel your presence in a distant world

Life was taken for granted and you didn't care about anything

You threw caution to the wind and I envied for it

But as I shut my eyes tightly to fight off the tears, your face invades my memory like sweet drops of rain

I shake my head regretfully trying to think different thoughts

But I see your teasing eyes, your lopsided smile that made me always laugh and I unconsciously reach out for you

As I open my eyes, I gasp

Your vivid face is in front of me, holding my trembling hand

I swallow, wondering if I'm still perceiving reality or in a surreal dream

I follow your stare up towards the heavens and look at you blankly

You show me your lopsided grin again and point at a cluster of stars

I look at them, but my vision blurs until I'm dizzy with fright

You let go of my hand and the world around me spins

I bite my lips to keep from screaming and squeeze my eyes shut tight

Now as I observe the brightening stars, I remember your eyes gazing at them

And I realize that I've just met a fallen angel
