State of Being

In this moment,
I am left with thoughts
dig deep,
left with nothing.

Just a moment
is everything I need.
Striving and screaming
inside.

You are my plans.
Your words
don't matter
to me.
(I say, over again)
I hold this lie
It lies close
to my heart--
whispering to you on a steady beat.

So I beg to you
to want to tell me
Just stay.
But your unawareness
deafens the silence.

I made our time most spent
comfortable for you,
but I said it selfishly---
to cover my dreams.
When I wake,
the pain doesn't make a difference
I stay
anyways.

But the way our eyes
Have better conversations
Than what our lips spit and spill,
makes me come and go too long.

If the beat fails,
blue eyes remain quiet.
If the beat fails
because of you,
I won't cover my dreams anymore.
And I'll still keep my eyes silent
to the familiar beat
of dormancy.
