The Nightmare

Intensely analyzing as the silence endures
The quiet of Night seems so peaceful and innocent
Images of sleeping children gripping blankets
Flutter in my mind as I fight to obtain sleep.
It seems sleep can only come if you sneak up behind
And take away it's pride.
The light finally flickers as I begin to doze off
I feel the dreams of Night within my reach
The smell of fresh ocean air fills my nose
The breeze brushes my cheeks as the wind
Pushes the boat farther from the British soil.
The New World is upon us -- my aunts and I
New York is a glorious place where dreams come true
My mind plays games for a journey as long as such
Must be but months -- yet it seemed only minutes before...
I could see the lovely lady of liberty!
We coasted into the harbor, our hopes and dreams so fresh
We've come to live and thrive in the world of free men
A place where one achieves happiness and fulfills visions
But in a moment, appears a young girl
She is in need of one to watch her, which becomes my duty
As well, another change being time transformed
It was now set in the middle of the 20th century...
When suddenly, the young girl had begun to cross the road
With unfortunate luck, she hadn't looked before her path
A large, towering, black car was coming for her!
Of all things possible, she next began to shrink
I gasped in horror and could only think of saving her
I soared into the air and swept her in my palms
As this was done, I was hit and slammed against the black car
I never knew such a car or thought would make one
sweat as I did so profusely that nightmare during Night.
