Suddenly the world crashes The sky is getting darker With every breath I take Where are you? Where have you gone? Me drinking; laughing You de-rooting lives; packing Laughter stopped short Shattered Fine glass falling to the floor Piercing Rich wine flowing in between Confusion A day too late A lifetime ends How can a new one start? An eagle tethered to the ground No words no goodbyes Only memories A lake, a rock, warm summer, hay Racecars, Christmas, the moon, snow, stars Pain Slow healing Anger So useless now Friends Skis, cold, confusion Horse, window, fleeing Searching, no answers Scissors, picnic table, lake again, airport Anger again, more pain, and throughout are the daisies No thinking now, keep your mind busy Who am I? Who are you? I know who you are You are soft blanketed in strength You are silent looks and happy words You risk, dare, yet are safe, protecting yourself Pulling back yet trying to reach out No pain yet no weakness Must stay tough You are confused No one to run to now A lost bird that realizes the way home Yet cannot spread its wings The cage is closing in; trapping You’ve seen it before Go now it will be too late Fly my little bird fly You must fly Wherever you will go How far you will go! Always take a daisy with you And remember me, and the daisy filled years What did I do? But how could I have known? The harshness, the unconsiderability The secrets, and goading, and anger Dark clouds smother everything now The blackness is seeping in; thick oil Smothering Floundering Sucking quicksand, pulling, drowning Swirling mud A daisy falls from somewhere above The petals partially pulled Floating; soaring to the ground How did it find its way into this miserable mess? White against black, a last hope, one wish No. White gets sucked into black swirling mass Swallowed. Gone.
