A Mother's Joy

Sweet, little curls
Softly frame her face.
Her laughter envelops me,
And I can't help but smile down at her.
Her tawny gold eyes
Make her even more special to me,
And they are always bright and cheerful,
Smiling as if they know a secret.
Her dimples are so cute and playful,
Her giggles are infectious,
Her whole face lights up in joy
As she runs towards me,
Her ams outstretched, wanting to be hugged.
I pick her up and swing her around,
Laughing with her as she wraps her arms around my neck.
She softly whispers in my ear
I love you, momma.
A tear slides down my cheek and i whisper back to her:
I love you too, my daughter.
