China Doll

4-6-04

China doll
Your face is fat
You're supposed to be perfect
And not look like that.
China doll
made so thin
Not a blemish
Upon her skin.
Always proper,
Gentle and kind
Nay a bad thought
Within her perfect mind.
China doll
put down that blade
Don't you know
The marks won't fade?
China doll
Wipe those tears away
Handle with care
You're too fragile to play.

Stop comparing me
To your doll-like fantasy.
I can't be the perfect daughter
Like you want me to be.
I am not thin, nor close to kind,
All sorts of scars, and no smart mind.
The pressure you add
And the comments you say,
Leave me striving for perfection
Day after day.
Hoping you'll soon appreciate
The efforts I've made
Once you see,
I lost this charade.
Your words haunt my spirit
And follow me around
Like a doll,
I have no voice to be found.
