Taking The High Road

I walk this path
of life alone
the fleeting sound of footsteps
on a high and fragile road

Day fades into twilight
and memories to years
the horizen dims behind me
a dying reminder of the day before

Stars begin to shine
as I walk this endless road
one path ends, others begin
one leads higher, the other unsure

The wind howls around my form
while in silence I seek a decision
I turn around and take a breath
reflecting on the moon lit foot prints

The world stands still
heavens watchin in awe
holding its breath the universe waits
for me to break the silence

Forever alone
on this dusty path
I'll walk on
through the stars of time

The past is nothing more
a memory in the wind
they'll never have to gues again
I'll always choose the high road
