Failure's Smile

The crack along the wall is splitting,
Just like my mind,
I try to hold it together,
But all I can do is hide.

Hide the difficulties,
Hide the lies,
I smile till it hurts,
While I silently cry.

One last trip will set it off,
One tiny chain of events,
Will push me over the drop.
The littlest thing will make me damned,
The reasoning lost,
Much like I am.

But I’ll hold it,
If the walls will hold,
I wish for help,
To bear this load.

But they wouldn’t understand,
Not many would,
I’d scream my life away,
If only I could.

Laments play constantly,
Inside my head,
Making the crack bigger,
Making the air dead.

Dead with memories,
Dead from the night,
I sit in this corner,
Refusing to join this doomed “fight”.
