Ode to Death

How am I supposed to rely?
On people who so often lie,
Who plead that they’ll always be present,
But when the time comes, are always absent,

When I needed help,
I looked to you,
But you were too busy to be there,
So how can you say you care?
Because whenever I needed you,
You were never there,

So I write this by myself,
For myself,
And to myself,
You can’t blame me,
I’ve known nothing else,

Nothing but the vast emptiness,
Of eternal loneliness,
With only my thoughts as my companions,
Instinct my best friend,
So you can’t blame me,
For pushing my life to a ragged end.
