So, my dear…tonight is one of many choices…
Leather or lace? Satin or silk? Dinner or death?
I’d take the food over asphyxiation any God-given day…and a sip of champagne and a chance for sex after the foreplay seems far more appealing than apparent relationship trauma induced suicide…(It doesn’t have to end this way…) but then again…I do see your point…
You’ll be dolled up and dressed in that sequin gown you’ve always wanted….only I’ve *always* been too poor (cheap) to afford. And talk about the jewelry I’ll send you off to that great beyond with… So many glittering diamonds…one might misinterpret your hand for a long lost set of stars…a galaxy? Being pretty is all that counts…
And I’ll get you a casket lined with elegant silk…hand carved…Italian design…only the best of the best for you. See…I’m not always so blatantly selfish. And it would be the only time in my life that I’d be willing to dote every single second of my time on you. Because while you are alive…I have to take breaks for breathing blinking thinking…being. You hate roses…so I’ll cover the funeral home in daises. Lilies. Colored carnations. Marble tombstone with gold filigree in the random place? Why the hell not! I mean….it is only money after all…
And now for death…So much more appealing in your eyes than an elegant dinner complete with dancing and a kiss under the stars. And the sex. We can’t leave that out…but that comes only at your convenience. See…I’m not one to demand or even beg. I let you call all the shots. Shots! Ha! Is that how you intend to go? Or something more dramatic. Maybe slitting the wrists and coloring the water in our porcelain bathtub. Or a fatal overdose? Perhaps you’ll hang yourself and swing happily from that maple tree on our lawn. Or dive! Take a nice calculated jump from our balcony. Drown in the swimming pool? So many choices. How on earth will you ever decide?
Just let me know in time to cancel our reservations and get drunk on a few bottles of red wine…and dream…
Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?
I will. I did. I still do. |
