this life

Street lights cast a glow
On concrete sidewalks devoid of life
Lifeless buildings, the still air

A car passes by
Silence disrupted
Tucked safely into bed
The city slept

Emerging from the night
A solitary figure moves
Not unlike the whisper of the wind
A lone figure in the deep velvet night

She wanders round the sleeping city
Trails her hand along the walls
Closes her eyes and breathes in
This city, the night she has come to love

The figure moves to the waterfront
Gentle lapping of waves soothes her ears
She walks up the bridge
Gazing at the magnetic waters below

Kight reflects on the water surface
Street light wraps around her
Watch the sun rise over the waters
Deep in thought
Contemplating this life of hers
