Tale of the forgotten

There once ruled dinosaurs,
under the blood-red sky,
tall and powerful,
they were fierce warriors of the nigh’
Not underdeveloped, like an ape, or croc or fly,
they were grand survivors,
‘till evolution would pass them by.

The first part of the Beginning,
we were of a brutal race,
broad and hairy, an entangled face,
was not left out, from size in place.
And then it happened,
a tingle startled our nerves,
heads bulged with unused brains,
with language enclosed,
an animal that could verse!

Now time is ticking by,
And evolution clearly fading,
We rarely stop to realise,
That our ancestors would be shaming,
Should they see their children’s demise.
