I can't decide if schizoid personality disorder makes people happy or depressed. I think it depends on the person. That is also why there shouldn't be a major connection towards drugs, if there isn't an obvious mood set on the person. I mean if schizoid people were really depressed they would go for ups and if they were really energetic they might go for downs. Because their is a link between borderline and drugs, ADHD and drugs. Well at least a more solid link than for normal people. :P |

I can positively say that there are more schizoid potheads per capita than normal people. Schizoids enjoy self-indulgence, and wanna make the most out of it, and weed enhances sensory pleasure and makes you feel just great. I wouldnt be surprised if there were also large users of acid, heroin and amphetamines too. |

"I can't decide if schizoid personality disorder makes people happy or depressed." Well, if the stereotype that hackers and videogame junkies are all schizoid, then I guess it makes them happy. Ive even wanted to make a thread asking that question. |

Yes, that is pretty much my conclusion to. From an outside point of view they seem lonely and depressed, but the thing is that that is just how they like it. Being alone doing nothing important. :P |

Well if you are a hacker, then you are doing something pretty f---ing important. Important enough for the authorities to have interest in you anyway, but thats beside the point, and I dont even know if the stereotype fits. Right now im thinking of a stereotype for the depressed half of schizoids. Who are they and what do they do? Besides using a chip of wood with a nail attached as their personal dildos while inside their shack I mean =D |

| Bet you have read this a couple of times, but I find the "Akhtar's phenomenological profile" graph really interesting on the wiki page. Explains a lot of the schizoids on this forum. | |

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizoid#Diagnostic_criteria_.28DSM-IV-TR_.3D_301.20.29 Then press "Akhtar's phenomenological profile" in contents. If you are schizoid this probably will just piss you off. Or you will say something like Akhtar is speaking out of his ass. It kind of attacks the self image that schizoids carries. But it's pretty much how I see them. :P |

Umm... the "Covert" section describes just about all of humanity. I am totally lost in the point Mr. ACH! *gag* Mr. AKH! *gag, cough* Mr... "Actar" tries to make. *spits a wad of mucus into the toilet and clears throat* |

Are you saying that the Interpersonal Relations covert section can describe you? That doesn't suit me very well anyways. :P |

| I said it describes most of humanity, you arent human so you dont qualify. And yes "capable of excitement with carefully selected intimates" does describe me. The others are a give or take. | |

Oh and what the hell is up with this paragraph "While it is overt it matches the usual description of the schizoid personality offered in the DSM-IV. According to Klein, though, it is "just as often" a covert, hidden internal state of the patient in which what meets the objective eye may not be what is present in the subjective, internal world of the patient. Klein therefore cautions that one should not miss identifying the schizoid patient because one cannot see the patient’s withdrawnness through the patient’s defensive, compensatory, engaging interaction with external reality. Klein suggests that one need only ask the patient what his or her subjective experience is in order to detect the presence of the schizoid refusal of emotional intimacy." What is with this zealous determination to pin a label on someone? More importantly, what the f--- is the point? This Dr. Klein needs to seriously consider growing the f--- out of his highschool ideals personality issue. Let me translate that paragraph into a more teenage vocabulary: "Dont be fooled, that guy may seem all cool and jazz and SAYS he has a girlfriend but he is just a secret loner, I have my own special word for those kinds of people. Here are some tips how to detect them and piss them off." What a sad, moronic industry psychology is. |
