| ha. reading ulysses, really reading it, is like a conversion into a gnostic/mystical religion. it is SO opaque, it just unseats you from your reading methods but at the same time the experience is one of deja vu because almost everything that has been written since it references its methods, usually without even meaning to. i hate ulysses. it's on my reading list for my exam. how the hell am i supposed to have any 'meaningful' to say about a book where the main character wipes his ass with a book that is supposed to symbolize the canon of English literature (actually though, that part's funny), and parts of the book are not even in any recognizable language, etc etc... | |

| lucky for me though, the parts on my exam are all the smutty parts, like when he masturbates in front of the woman who exposes herself, and the part where he goes to a whorehouse and gets whipped and turned into a woman and killed in fantasy and then turns around and beats her for snapping a button off his pants and laughing about it. | |

| I remember that we got like a chapter or a minor bit from the book to analyze and write about. The only thing you had to do was to make up something up, your own rendition. The bit I got didn't really make any sense, so I wrote down some word pooping to make the teacher happy. :P | |

I just love the new box of rules "Please read before posting" Do you suppose anyone heads the rules? I doubt it.. Poetry...i wrote a poem in grade school...writing isn't my thing. I play piano.. |
