| So I'm usually a very depressed, dismal and angry person. As much as I hate the idea of anti depressants I reaaly hate being depressed all the time. I've heard that while they make u feel less depressed u feel like u r just goin throu the motions of life n ur kinda just in the backround. If this is the case I'll just stick 2 lighting up a joint once a week. Based on your experiences, how do you feel about anti- depressants? | |

They can't be as damaging as throwing yourself off a bridge. And a question: If you aren't opposed to the use of mind-altering drugs ("I'll just stick 2 lighting up a joint once a week"), then what's your beef with prescription happy pills? |

| I don't hav a beef with them I'm just asking advice from others experience with antidepressants. I'm not some burnout but when I smoke ( maybe once a month) I feel alive and a real appreciation for life and all the small things that happen that most people forget to notice. ( and I hav a 3.7 gpa . I'm not sum dumb stoner) | |

"As much as I hate the idea of anti depressants" That reeks of beef. And I have no idea what a 3.7 gpa is, I'm not American. |

| Ok I'm sorry I DO NOT Hate the idea of anti depressants my mistake. I am simply asking if people with experience of using antidepresants believe they work or not, I'm guessing I hav more of a moderate depression. So if u don't hav experience then don't try 2 start a fight with me about something u don't know wat ur talking about | |

| 3.7 is pretty good if not in honors. Probably top ten percent of her class | |

"So if u don't hav experience then don't try 2 start a fight with me about something u don't know wat ur talking about" Watch your temper ;) I've got waaay more experience with prescription happy pills than you. I've already given my opinion on the topic. You didn't ask for experiences and I don't like you enough to waste my time divulging my medical history. |

| I'm in honors classes. And I don't like u enough to want know about ur medical history. And I'm not trying to start a fight with u. If u don't like the idea of smoking that is your decision and I respect that but I am not looking to be judged by wat I do to help me try to understand my problems. | |

"And I'm not trying to start a fight with u." Clearly I started this... And site where I said I "don't like the idea of smoking"... You're an idiot. |

there is a big new study out that suggests that antidepressants do nothing for moderate depression. they are the only option for major depression, and work well for it, but if you can marginally tolerate your life it may be better not to - antidepressants will give you minimal gain for a lot of pain. as for the pain (side effects), it varies from person to person. the big one for me was not being able to think, concentrate or sleep properly. i did a year of a PhD on antidepressants and my grades didn't suffer but i failed a major exam because i was going to sleep at 6 in the morning and the exam was at 9 (try writing a 4 hour exam on 2 hours of sleep etc). some people don't have these side effects but i must say that now that i'm off, i can think clearly and sleep regular hours (except that I freak out about everything whereas on antidepressants did not). Effexor is apparently not so good (bad withdrawal effects; it's the one I was on and had above side effects although side effects vary a lot from person to person). Zoloft and Celexa are better. According to my shrink anyway. Paxil has bad withdrawal effects. It and ... Cymbalta I think it is, will kill your memory. |

| No I did not win, you win. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. I interpreted your first post as that you had never used antidepressants. I thought u making judgements about my choices. I understand that I jump to conclusions but that is just how I am and that is why I hav a bad temper when it comes to dealing with people. One of my character flaws | |
