| I was recently diagnosed as PTSD by a counselor. My mom growing up was very hostile and angry. She used to mock me when i stuttered or talked too fast and she used to go into rages of violence over minor frustrations. Also, my mom used to threaten and likes to make people feel bad about themselves. Every time I see my mom or walk by her in the house there is a demeaning comment usually 'disguised' as a Joke or something to be 'helpful'. My therapist thinks my mom is NPD. What annoys me the most is that if I get mad at my mom for anything she does or point out how she has hurt me she gets mad at ME. IN her mind I'm simply attacking HER and saying something bad about her to be mean. Then she gets angry, she does NOT EVER feel bad about the thing I originally brought up that hurt me. Has this ever happened to you? | |

| eep. yep, my mom does this. i tried telling her she was narcissistic once and it brought the house down around my ears, ha; I ended up being the narcissistic one according to her. Possibly some truth in that but my point wasn't that I wasn't! Really a pain when they won't acknowledge what they are doing. To my surprise my mother recently did (partly) and it was really good for me to hear it (instead of the standard "you're delusional" or exaggerating) | |

My mom's the exact same. How do you deal with it? How do you try talk to them?? It's really hard |
