I'm 14, and People have always joked that I'm obsessed with illness and disease, and I know nearly everything there is to know about some conditions or disorders (eg- Autism, Meningitis, M.E, Swine/bird flu)

and I make a big thing about any kind of pain or problem.

Like, I get a cold, and I know that if it goes on for more than five days, you are meant to see a doctor- so after five days, I talk and talk and talk about it, and no-one will listen. I won't listen when they say 'oh it will go away on it's own'.

I have been very interested in medicine from a very young age and read my first medical dictionary at 7.
If I hear about an illness, I will look up all the symptoms and then worry if I have it.

When ever someone gets a rash, I always check to see what type it is- if it doesn't fade when pressed, it maybe is meningitis.

I find that I am constantly assessing my own problems and worrying about health, and diagnosing people with random illnesses all the time.

I've taken the test on here and it says my chance of having it is very high, and I've taken two other tests already...

Are these some symptoms or hypochondria? What should I do now?

Every time i get a niggle i freak out and think im dying of something, im used to it now- how sad is that?

Maybe you should look into becoming a nurse or a doctor if your so interesed in medical things.

most things you be reading about will be very rare- so dont panic, although its sometimes hard not to- i understand.
Just try not to let it consume you- your still very young to have those thoughts.

when i was young, i dramatized tonsillitis.
it was a bad fever, but i made it out to be worse, i complained about my eyes, how that light hurt it. mum brought me to the hospital, i got 12 needles and a lumber puncture. they thought it was meningitis, my family thought i would die.
when my spinal fluids came back clear, they knew i had been exaggerating. i'd broken their trust in a very cruel way. that had been in preschool. its like ten years later and they still can't trust me.
when it comes to being a hypochondriac, i would suggest, DON'T.
