About half of all borderline-diagnosed individuals have a problem with drug or alcohol abuse. It probably has something to do with the individual self-medicating, trying to alleviate the ups and downs of the disorder with something to numb the pain or provide an escape. This substance abuse, however, adds another layer of difficulty in treating borderline. Have you struggled with addiction in addition to BPD? Has it complicated your treatment?

Caprice can be very promiscuous and this causes problems which leads to drug use to ward off the abuse. If only she discriminated and did not go around shagging anything in trousers.

actually, yes i have to say i've had bouts of addiction with ketamine, ecstasy, crystal meth, and cocaine. i've overdosed on ketamine and ecstasy, hospitalized for it. and it was instantaneously i developed the addiction. i tried it once and i was doing it every weekend. and then weekends turned into week long binges. and it took over my life for a good 4 or 5 years. however my parents were about to disown me and take away everything that i have ever known and i couldn't bear for that to happen. now i self medicate with alcohol and pot especially. on the hard drugs i was not able to function as a real human being, but the pot and alcohol allow me to function pretty decently.

even though i don't do k anymore, i still miss the feeling. although, when i overdosed on k it was the worst f---ing k hole i had ever been in and every time after that it was just a very bad experience. but i miss the good holes.. oh, memories.

Hi I'm new on here. I have struggled with addiction for a very long time. I am in a 12 step program right now with almost 9 months. I am not sure that i want to quit doing all drugs, but for right now it's a good thing.
