I can understand their defense regarding BPD if in fact they do suffer from it. I'm really struggling at the moment; Some days, I want nothing more than to stab or beat someone to death. I am a calm soul and this scares the s--- out of me because I believe that I could actually do it. ANY TIPS PLEASE????

Getting help shouldn't be too hard. Just ask your physician if they could recommend anyone to help you get "tested" and they should probably be able to help. If that doesn't work, look online for a psychiatrist and talk to them about it. Of course, whatever you do, you'll most likely have to pay some amount of money. I think it would be worth it, however, if you do have BPD and were able to get proper treatment for it . . . and it would be even more worth it if you found out for sure that you really don't have it. :D

Also, if you're still in school, you could talk to a counselor about getting help, and they're pretty much obligated to do something about it, so long as you're serious. Heh.

I suffer from bpd and by no means is it a defense for committing crime.
yeah sure bpd causes a person to have over sensitive emotions and bouts of anger and i have done and said things that im totally ashamed of!

Using bpd as an excuse to take another human life is absurd and
offensive to those who struggle with this terrible mental illness.

to jaylund we all have crazy feelings and thoughts wether u suffer from mental illness or not my guess is ....u only believe u could actually do it because the feeling of it and the mental picture in your head is so intense but i dare say everyone has had thoughts and feelings of this kind at some point in theyre lifes.

even the sane ones lol :)

I suffer with a range of personality dissorders and i recently told my doc exactly how bad my anger mood swings and vivid thoughts of killing people (of which i have felt for almost 2 years) and that i feel i should be locked up to prevent harm on others and my doc still refuses to help me by asserting that i am a 'junkie' for recreationly smoking cannabis. but i feel the only time i am calm is when i smoke. I am scared of where i may end up because my doc dont take me seriously enough. so to calm my violent tendencies i cause and inflict pain on myself or smash up s--- just so i dont hurt anyone. i also try and stay indoors in the day so i can avoid people on the street and only go out at night.
i have also been taking amitryptelene which keeps me drowsy but not calm. i am also alot less caring on it.
any thoughts or respone to this would be helpful.

BPD isn't an excuse for murder. For a person to be found insane he or she must not have been able to tell right from wrong at the time of the crime. Also juries are not sympathetic to any mental illness even in cases where the person was psychotic and didnt know right from wrong. Aileen Wornouses attorney tried this defense and she was sentenced to death. If this story has a moral it may be we all have intense anger but the feeling is just that a feeling. IF feeling turns into action expect a consequence. Everyone else has to play by the rules why should a person with BPD be an exception?

bpds knows what is right and what is wrong. but not to forget there will be transient paranoia during a period when under stress. during that anything to happen is possible. but again we need a proper investigation and evaluation by experts to determine whether or not it's acceptable. and i agree with inmichigan. a prison with mental health facitility cud be a solution. it's like it's accepted that they have mental disorder, but not totally released due to that.

Firstly, BPD usually includes other mental and personality disorders. For example I am BPD, bipolar with schizoid tendencies and generalized and social anxiety disorders and I've only had 2 visits so I'm sure more will come.

People with BPD often talk about not being able to control their anger, that they feel like they're going crazy and when you throw in paranoia it's a bad combo. And you also have to remember not a lot of research has been done with BPD as much as with bipolar and schizophrenia.

BlackAngelwings: If you ever wanna talk, I'm here. It's very isolating to have both disorders and you feel like no one understands what you're going through or the extent of it. But I can completely relate!

Hip you need to chill out and maybe get a little more educated on the different kinds of personality disorders! Yeah some people really suffer from PD and they never change! The only reason why I am reading these forums is because I going to school to study on these kinds of disorders because I feel that with GOD and the right kind of treatment that ANYONE no matter WHO they are or WHAT they suffer from can be helped!

BPD is absolutely not an excuse for murder or any other criminal activities of the sort. I have this along with several other disorders, however (as hard as it is) I do not let it control me. I have extreme anger issues, and awful morbid thoghts that later make me despise myself. And throughout all this I maintain control of myself, for the most part. I admit to slamming this and breaking things on occasion but never have I hurt anyone. And the one about the scamming lawyer? What does that even have to do with this sort of thing at all?
