I am almost 15 years old and I am absolutely positive i have BPD. I was goin to a therapist for a couple months and he even said thaqt the possiblity of me having borderline was extremely high. the problem is my parents. They don't beleive i need help. They r the type that just kind of tell me to get over it. I love them to death but i need help. I cant live my life going in these cycles of extremes and loving one minute and hating the next. Cutting myself. Stealing. Refusing to be left alone. So How do i approach them and make them understand without them just brushing it off as usual?? Thank You. October |

October You're a brave young lady, and you've taken the biggest step already. Talk to another adult you trust, or try to talk to your mother when the two of you are alone. I have a daughter of my own and I just can't imagine thinking she could ever feel as alone as you must feel. I wish you the best of luck. Don't give up on yourself. There are people who will help you, so keep reaching out. |

October It may take some very personal conversations with one or both of your parents to get them to understand. I agree with SufferingStill, that if you have another adult you trust and can talk to that you should confide in them. This will be really hard but you can do it. There are far better treatments and much more understanding of borderline than there ever has been before. If you can, keep in touch on this forum. There are some really great people on this forum alone. Hang in there. |

| Yeah October, I agree with what everyone else said, you need to sit down and have a serious conversation with them. Maybe they don't want to believe their daughter has a problem? I don't know, but you should definitely try to talk to them. Just like what other people said, don't lose hope! We're rooting for you! | |
