Hey everyone. My name is Charlie and i'm 18. I haven't been feeling right for some time- I have very black phases, I think in black and white, never in between, and I have a very real and large problem with social situations and relating to others. I came on to this site today, and took the survey, answering completely frankly and honestly. I came up as being 'Very High' for Borderline and Avoidant and High for everything else except for 'Paranoid, Schizoid and Schizotypal', which came in as moderate.

My question is, what the hell do I do?! I know that i'm just not right at the moment, but i'm terrified about how a diagnosed personality disorder will affect my future (i'm going to University in a few days!) Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Charlie

Unfortunatly, i don't know whether having a diagnosis will prevent you from university, it seems immoral to do so, but well, the world we live in is like that. My advice would to get a diagnosis BUT only if it doesn't affect your university placement.

If you're heading off to University I highly suggest you seek help beforehand or during.

I don't know where you're from but they shouldn't be able to discriminate against you for having a mental disorder.

When I went off to college I thought I had overcome my issues however when I got to college the stress of papers and exams really got to me. I was breaking down almost on a daily basis. I had panic attacks multiple times.

Most schools here in California offer counseling as part of attendance because school can be very stressful on that level.

So, I would look into seeing if the school you're going to offers similar service. Also, finding help before then would be great.

Good luck!
