So, apparently there's a quote going around from Megan Fox where she admits to cutting in her past.

Along with people bashing her comes people ignorantly commenting on 'cutters'. I've had friends who read the article say, 'Oh cutters do it all for attention, blah blah blah' yet not ONE of them knows what I'm doing.

How do you guys respond to stuff like that? I don't want to give away the fact that I self harm but I don't want them to have such a closed-minded view of something so serious. I've tried explaining it but it starts sounding like a confession so I back off.

When people i know say things like that i just let them carry on, mainly so they don't realise i cut too, but because some people just never change their views on anything. If just the fact that people cut them selves on a regular basis doesn't alter their views the slightest then whatever breath i use never would. Just reply with "Mmm hmmm yeah" and change the topic, works wonders :p

Yeah I just try to ignore them. People like that are shallow and mindless bots that the media programs to like whatever music fashion or whatever they want just becuase it's "popular" they don't feel or think, they just want to make themselves feel cool and superior. But they don't know what we go through

We I have no idea who Megan Fox is, but I think the more important topic is about the stubborn, ignorant fools around you, so I'll respond to that:

If your "friends" are still in school, We suggest not even bothering with trying to change their opinions. Almost everyone surrounded by their peers is controlled by what they all think is the "cool" or "correct" way the think and/or act about something, so if you want to change just one person's opinion, you should make sure they're not entirely under the same impression as everyone else, and/or that they are willing to accept different points of views on a topic rather than accept the general public's opinion without question. Otherwise, you'll have to change the entire group's opinion, and that just doesn't seem likely to happen.

In the case where everyone accepts things without question, the best thing to do is just withhold your opinion and try not to verbally beat them down too much. The majority of youth these days are just too retarded to understand that there may actually be *reasons* to why people do things, and those reasons may actually be viable.

Of course, if you're not afraid of the consequences, you could simply cut yourself right in front of all of those aforementioned popularity drones to prove your point. If you decide to do this, however, you may want to cut yourself on a place away from any other cuts to make it seem like you just cut yourself for the first time. This way, you could follow up by saying something along the lines of, "Now, explain to me why I would choose this way to get all of my friends' attention." and go with it from there. (Just a thought; you probably shouldn't do that because you could get kicked out of school for having something as dangerous as whatever you just used to cut yourself with . . . assuming you would do it in school, that is. If it's anywhere else, We're sure it would be different.)

. . . Once again, as I look back at what We've written, something tells me that we may have gotten a little off topic and/or missed the point, entirely. Of course, that could just be our pessimism thinking for me. Heh.

Doesn't matter if we're off topic, everything is related anyway. I agree 100% with you, Ciner. Too bad I'm not brave enough to shock teh "popularity drones" as you so aptly put it, although I'd love to see the look on their cakey faces.

ciner, a fad only lasts for maybe 5-10 years, it will eventually die.

I loveee Megan Fox now.
I thought this was brave of her and I find everything she says to be interesting and honest.

Everyone else is starting to not like her because people are starting to think she's b----y or crazy, but I admire her.
And at least she's not fake.
