My best friend is a very angry, and at times a very depressed person. She is the most sensitive person I know, and she takes all of it out in anger. But its always tinged with hurt, and i can see that. She seems to hate herself a lot. She thinks she is ugly and fat (even though she isnt, I think she is beautiful) and she doesnt think she's good at anything at all even though shes extreamly talented. She doubts that I mean it, when I compliment her, or say something positive. I know she doesnt do it for attention, shes not like that. She has this need to cut herself. I have occasionally wanted to do the same, and so we made a deal that neither of us would do it. But then she started to beg me to let her off it, offering me anything in return. She said it made her happy, and she would be less mad if i let her. But I wouldnt give in. I got very upset. One day, since she has all the power over me, she took it off, and there was nothing I could do... She forbid me from hurting myself, while she could. Now I'm extreamly afraid. When she is angry or depressed, she is relentless. She doesnt seem to give a s--- about what happens to her. She could really do something bad. I keep having nightmares. She is the most important person in the world to me, and her good side is just so good... and I don't want to lose her. What should I do? Does this sound like Borderline? |

| Talk to a psychiatrist if you can find access to one. Otherwise I think I would try to be there for her and tell her what you have told us .. that she is the most important person in the world to you. Even if she does not believe, keep telling her over and over. She is lucky to have someone like you care so much about her. | |

| Tell what you wrote here to your friend. She'll see how much you care, and hopefully listen. Someone kinda did the same with me and it worked, so i hope it'll work with you and your friend :) | |

I always tell her i care for her, and that she means the world to me.. i tell her everything i feel... But it doesnt help. Its working less and less lately.. I cant make her happier.. |

| You CAN make her happy, don't give up now. Although things may seem the darkest you should not give up. If your talking to her doesn't help, try getting help with it. Maybe find some other friends that she also trusts and keep enforcing what a beautiful person she is. Always listen and respond to her, eventually she has to feel that there ARE people in the world who care about her | |

| Don't give up, i have every faith you can convince her to listen to you, and Fantasy has that faith too. Talk to someone who deals with BPD, they can help you and your friend much more than i ever could here. Don't give up, you may feel like she may never listen, but she will, just keep telling her :) | |

Okay, I will keep telling her.. You know.. I recently made her a book... talking about how wonderful i think she is.. it took hours and hours. At the end it has pages of pages of 'i love you''s. I counted and i wrote it 1650 times.. I hope it will mean something to her.. im giving it to her tomorrow.. I hope it helps, wish me luck... |
