| I told my mom that I was feeling depressed today and that my friends were starting to worry. I didn't tell her that I cut, but she's still gonna take me to a therapist. Was it a good idea to tell her, or no? | |

| Timpanilove: I think it's a good idea to tell her if you want help. A lot of us here can't even tell the people we love that we're depressed or having problems, so we can't get any help. It's nice that someone can. =) | |

| Timpanilove: It depends on what kind of person she is. If she's the type of person that will scream and yell at you because of it then... most likely it's not a good idea but if she cares about you it would be a good thing. If she's going to take you to a therepist anyway then I suppose you should. She cares about you. Sometimes it's better to share with loved ones then keeping it locked up. | |

| hey so for those of you that don't know what to cut with get a dispoable razor ( buy it yourself from like save on or something ) and you can just break open the plastic and take out the 4 little blades.. they work very well and i usually just hide them in books that never get read, in my bag or under heavy stuff.. i still but on my forearm because everywhere else isnt the same.. no one knows but my gym class thinks its from climbing a tree so im trying to just cut on the same spot but im so tempted to break new skin.. any ideas on what to tell them when they notice? im scared for summer when im going to have to take off my coat and where short sleeves.. its coming soon any tips for excuses or hiding? | |

DONT USE THE CAT EXCUSE!!! People will insist on putting ointment on it and stuff, dont use the cat excuse. Soulutions: Don't cut!(duh) On your thighs? Or shins? (careful if you run a lot or do stuff in gym this wont be good D: ) Back? (yes, it can be done!) shoulder? (careful......dont wanna sever a muscle or vein) lastly, your belly? |

The time's I've cut I've got my wrist, my palms {nice and deep, good excuse to get out of class or work too} I also cut my shoulder blade or my upper left arm. I use a broken piece of glass from a cup, some pieces of rock from this pretty rock I found and broke, and a piece of razor I tore out of one of my razor blades. I cut because I feel I deserve it, I dislike myself so much I feel the need to hurt myself. |

im 14, and i started cutting when i was 12. i use the razors out of a disposable razor head. they work quite well 4 me.. i usually cut 4-5 inches wide, and the depth depends on how i feel @ that particular timee :P i used 2 cut all over my arms..but my mom found out and almost had me commited D: now, i cut on my thighes, occationally my hands(tho i dont reccomend that :P), and my stomach, but occastionally i break down and cut my arm..but i take swimming lessons now, so its reallly awkward when i cut my arms, becuz ppl ask 2 many questionss..i cut becuz its a release, i cut becuz i love the pain, i love to watch the blood flow down my skin..and as weird as this mite soundd, i lovvee the taste of my own blodd.. oh, and i have a question..my moms making me go 2 the docter..wut do i do about all the scarss???? |

LoveIsDead: i usually just wear a lite sweater, even in the summer :) u culd try wearing arm gloves(i think thats what there called..) they hide the cuts/scars, and r veryy nice 2 wear in summer :) u culd also wear sweat bands if the scars r closer 2 your wrists..and if all else fails...u culd try putting cover-up or somthing like that over your arms (just dont put it on fresh wounds :P) |

| Artemis: I couldn't tell anyone before except 2 of my best friends, and they started getting really scared for my life and saying that they were tempted to tell my mom, so I figured that if I told her before, it would be easier on everyone. | |

| Timpanilove: The same thing happened to me a couple years ago. My sister found out and was going to tell my mom so I told her first because I thought it'd be better if she heard it from me. My mom freaked and put me in counseling (which didn't really help because the counselor was a little condescending). But that might not be the case for you. At any rate, I hope everything works out. =) | |

| Artemis: Thanks, I went today, and it didn't really help. I honestly think talking to my friends is better because I care more about what they think and what they have to say. | |
