| srbutler75:Remember I said that you had a good point. I thought you were using the strong language to give a wake up call and just wanted to see if I was right. Of course I read the previous posts and it is true some of them were pro cutting. Why in the world would somebody write the top ten ways to slit your veins? This is supposed to be a helping forum not a suicidal one. You have many good points and I admit Austin did prove that you are right about many of the things you said. But really look at both sides of the issue. Sometimes its not as simple to be encouraging as you think. Sometimes people send the wrong message through posts. | |

| You're right aca6, sorry for being a wise-ass to you. I admit that it's a situation that I don't completely understand, so it would be no suprise if I approached it from the wrong angle. Do you understand the cutting, and why the cutting threads here get so much attention while the threads more geared to helping/support get so little? Again, I'm sorry - and thank you for being so diplomatic even after I was being an ass. :) | |

| I don't know why people ask how to cut, but i just let it pass, only a handful of them get answered anyway. Why people cut, sometimes is for a feeling of control and stabilty (like myself), for some its to cool anger. Reasons such as those usually. As for the threads, i'm not entirely certain, but my guess is theres so many people who cut here, and don't know how to stop/help/whichever word best fits here. Threads such as this one get lots of posts as lots of people can share experiences etc etc, but the support threads get less replies, as less people know how to help. Of course, i don't know for certain, but thats my take on things. | |

srbutler75: You don't have to apologize. You were simply stating your opinion, you were not being an ass. Sometimes people forget to look at things from different perspectives, it has happened throughout all of history, but you took the time to look at it from another perspective and asked questions about the situation which is something few people do. I agree with Fatality. So many people cut but they don't know how to stop so threads like this get more attention because people believe others will help and they can however there are always people who will screw the whole thing up and ask for help on how to start cutting but they mainly go unanswered. The threads geared toward help and support most likely get so little attention because the people here are the people that need support but don't know how to support others. This could be the reason. |

I havent been on here for a while, lots of new people/posts :) I recently aquired a piece of broken glass to cut with. I dont advise it, i tried grinding the sharp corner bit into my ankle and it splintered and i spent the next 10 mins picking bits of glass out of my skin with tweesers. Unfortunately i dont know what to do about the scarring i get from using the kitchen knife (big one, large curved edge you know?) some have faded but look like dodgy stretchmarks :S ones on my legs look horrible. What do i do? |

| To continue the convo about why people cut, i agree with the majority, i do for comfort because the pain sharpens my mind, i can focus then. | |

| I cut for more than one reason, but mainly just cause I feel so bottled up inside that it feels good to be able to let go I guess. | |

| Fatality, Aca6, thanks. I see what you mean about less people on the support threads. It makes perfect sense. If you're treading water, you don't really have a free hand to pull someone else onto dry land. It's a dillemma. Also, for those with BPD who get better, or are just in general doing better at a given time, they'd likely spend less time on a site like this - so what you have are those who are still treading water. | |

| srbutler75 : It can also be that this thread is at the top of the forum and people see it more often. :) And your summary is correct. Very good analysis. | |
