| koko, perhaps you should concentrate on not cutting rather than hiding the marks? I really dont understand this cutting thing? it's a release of tension right.. anger or hurt? Can i ask the question - why dont you do it in a more constructive way? ie. go for a run, lift weights, do sit ups.... ANYTHING... | |

| i think this is good advice. I do cut but not deep. I guess it is a habbit but if you can distract yourself when you feel this impusive it is an achievment. You begin to break the cycle. It will take time to learn. I KNOW ITS HARD! Cuting is away to take it out on ourselves we feel we are to blame but we are better than that. Things can only get better. little by little. I won't ever dissapear and will always be there but we can learn to stop this. yeah we will always have them impulses and relapses. But you realise youcan do something elase rather than destroy ourselves.xx | |

| when i do cut i use bracelets to cover mine. But it can begin to irritate the skin where you cut after a while. But listen to what aussigal is saying too. | |

| AussieGal, i understand what ur saying, i cut myself too, but sometimes people (like me) cut thmselves because its the only way of getting the problem/anger/hurt out of you, and you want to tell someone but theres no one to tell, so you blame it on urself. | |

| Try not to cut, although I know it's hard, cuz I really wanted to cut yesterday. Instead I listened to music and wrote about my feelings in a series of cliche emo poems. But yeah, the scars are still there. I just wear long pants/sleeves all the time and say I'm allergic to the sun and I get sunburnt easy. | |

| I prefer double edge razor blades. You can just slip the blade out half way and then cut. I like to cut vertically on my lower arms and legs. I think the scars running length wise don't look so out of place. Being an older guy helps people don't ask. Just saying. | |

I think it is a good idea to keep some steri strips handy. They are skin tape. If you end up cutting deeper than you want just push the sides together and put the strips on top about 1/8 inch apart. They stay on for over a week and because they hold the sides of the cut together the scare is really thin. You can get them on line or ask for some if you end up in the ER. Also I like it when I nick a vein and the blood kinda squirts out. I love the warmth. You know you're alive. The down side is all the blood makes a bit of a mess. I put down newspaper when I know I want to go big. I've also learned that as long as the bleeding stops within about 10 min. you don't need to go the the ER. Just keep firm pressure on the cuts for 10 min. - no peeking. As far as depth goes if I see the fat then that's too deep for me. |

| It helps to make a contract with people you care about when trying not to cut (or burn). | |

| i broke a razor blade, they come with three on them and use one, normally on my left fore arm but sometimes on my right. I have also used in on my right thigh and my stomach. I used my leg razor originally, a venus one with a disposable head but it went really deep on my wrist and i got freaked out. i also have a scar on my thigh from where i used my razor once, it's better now more controlled. I also used to scratch my body all over with my nails, it would fade after four or five days. | |

| Imostly cut with the three blades from the disposable razor...or a regular razorblade if I can find one. They are usually not too deep but it really depends on the situation and whether or not im angry. I used to cut vertically on my forearms...now I cut in either direction. I also burn or I guess you would call it branding bc I heat up metal and press it to my skin. | |
