| i don't know if i could cut a vein. i cut with a razor so it is a clean line that produces good blood without having to go too far down. there are lots of times where i have considered it, close to it actually, but at the last moment have backed out because i don't have the balls to do it. plus i like pain, and pharmies to go with it -- but i don't like attention, especailly when it comes to family and friends where i have to actually explain my emotions to them as a consequence of my actions. so yeah.. lol. | |

I almost smiled when I read "practice cutting a vein" . . . Heh. Just to make this clear to you: if you actually cut a vein, especially a Superficial Vein, chances are that that vein will collapse upon coagulation, since it has to clot the severed ends of the vein to stop the blood flow . . . and when the blood stops flowing, the vein becomes unnecessary and shrinks away. With that said, "practicing" will end up removing all your Superficial Veins . . . Heh. Also, about what Nicotine_fiend said: I despise attempting to explain my "emotions" because, when I try to think about it, one of several things occurs; none of which were intended: 1. I let loose my restraint on free thoughts and I end up thinking about horrible, depressing things, which is hard for me to stop. 2. I start to think about what I'm being asked, but my thoughts are completely scattered and usually don't "string" together fluently, making them utterly useless and unintelligible . . . 3. I can't/don't think of a single thing and just stare, blankly (which is usually how I function . . . as though I'm in a perpetual catatonic state). 4. The question confuses the Hell out of Us and We don't know how to respond, since We can't even relate to it. (The question could be something simple, such as, "Does it make you happy?" and, most of the time, I honestly don't know . . .) 5. We end up saying something without thinking and it is taken to mean something insulting, at which point We just walk away. Normally, We go around with an empty mind, which I assume is to prevent myself from further depression . . . which is already labeled by the annoying "doctors" as a severe "Major Depression" . . . which We don't think is true. In the event that We do try to think about something, it ends up like with Number Two. Even remembering something I've experienced isn't really possible . . . even if it happened five minutes ago. :{ To this end, We cut myself. We don't do it because we feel sad, (in fact, We feel nothing most of the time, and when we do "feel", I'm not really sure how to describe it to myself, nor express it, nor understand what it even is . . .) but We do it because (well, for one, I suppose you could say We're "addicted") there are no subconscious or conscious thoughts to tell me otherwise . . . and it's amusing. The especially amusing part is when you slice all the way through the skin and it leaves a neat, "gaping" wound, where you can see the fat/muscle without having to pull back the skin. When it scabs over, it's like a neat eye-like thing. (Note: It took Us damn near two hours to get all this down . . . Someone better read it! Heh) |

| I agree. Even if I was put in the position where I was questioned, I wouldn't be able to give an intelligent answer. It makes complete sense in my head, when my thoughts are racing but to explain it to others comes out as complete babble. And my response is almost always a blank stare. Yeah, I may have issues but I deal with them on my terms. If I choose to cut and I'm not seriously harming myself, then I don't want grief about it. It could be a lot worse. Luckily for me, my parents don't notice or pay attention enough. They split the year living in New York and South Carolina so I have free reign while they are gone. Even when they're here though, I cut all the time and no one even notices. I was an idiot and cut a small series of cuts on my forearm and my girlfriend saw it, which freaked her out but didn't worry her too much since they were minuscule but she has no idea about the ones on my legs which would concern her for sure. Luckily, I'm very good at isolating myself enough so I don't get s--- for it. | |

| i take blades from my work... and i only cut with fresh blades so i dont have to press too hard to make myself bleed... i only cut on my arms and my lip... if u cut the inside of ur bottom lip its perfect cuz u bleed alot but it stops pretty quickly. my fave place is rite on the ridge of the inside and outside of ur lip. plus nobody notices if u do it there and the skin never toughens up | |

if you want to feel alive via pain why dont you just try boxing? XD then you can cut yourself with the excuse of eliminating bruises. but changing the subject it actually is kinda stupid to just absurdly cut oneself. And btw i have been there, been practically everywhere actually, from selfishness to self destruction i just realized the meaning of life not how much pain you can take but how you deal with. Again i think its absurd, but well, wth, everyone in this forums has some kind of pd anyway. |

I use a hospital grade scalpel ( I have a stash of them ) that I stole from an ED one time I was getting stitched up from the last 'cutting ' episode. All of my cuts require suturing, I dig in as deep as I can go until I nearly pass out from pain, only then I get the adrenaline rush and I stop. My cuts have been getting deeper and longer, right now I'm th inking of doing my wrists because I've f---ing had enough. |

| i had a knife. my friend took it away and now it is in the trash. i'm getting horribly creative about it now, using anything even remotely sharp that comes into my possession. i usually end up giving it to her in the end. my left outside thigh works best, as it is easiest to hide, but both of my arms bear the marks of pain as well. depth is not needed, but the number of them will suffice. | |

| A few days ago I found myself smashing a wine glass in the kitchen sink because I couldn't find anything else I felt was sharp enough to inflict what was desired. I have a mixture of scattered short and long cuts, in different directions and in different places. Some are deeper than others because some parts of the skin is easier broken. | |

I break a CD or DVD and use the broken pieces. They are sharp and effective. I cut on my sides. Like my hips and my pelvis. I cut there because I don't want ppl seeing it and questioning me about it. I don't exactly like to talk about it and why I do it. I cut once on my forearm and when ppl asked what happened I said it was a cat and ppl fell for it. Haha. xD I just dig in and really quick swipe across fast. So I feel it and it bleeds but it doesn't really hurt as much if you just put some pressure on it right after. |
