I have just taken the test and I got a very high in this and avoidance... I feel I have mood instability as I tend to be crying then maybe angry and then feeling generally ok all within the space of a few hours. When i get bouts of anger they are not intense but I do find I take the anger out on myself. I do self injure and have done for many years but have never really understood why. I do have about once or twice a week an intense feeling of being suicidal and tend to take large amounts of pills along with alcohol. I don't think I think in very black and white terms but I don't always seem to understand the full picture of something and tend to mis-understand. I also find that I always seem to have high expectations of people (especially my CPN) and when those expectations are not met I get angry and upset and then tend to take it out on myself again! I always feel empty as if you looked inside me I would be hollow... as I find it hard to cry even when I am actually upset by something. Although I have been told recently by my psychiatrist that I suffer from agoraphobia and been put on medication but I feel that it is not everything. Any advice etc would be helpful as I'm really unsure about this... |

Hello Peace. I am not an expert in this subject, thoug I have read a lot of information aboutt personality disorders. Anyway,I wil try to answer you to the best of my knowledge. Due to the very small amount of information you provide, it is not clear to me, that you suffer from borderline. Actually, lately, I joined a universitycourse about personality disorders, where a new angle to the subject was revealed. It claimed a different way og bordering between the kategorization of the different diagnosis based om the various symptoms. The borders between the various diagnoses are not as clear as once believed Acouding to this one cannot diagnose as strictly as earlier claimed. Meaning fore examble: You can suffer from various symptom of borderline (ex. splitting, projective identification etc.) but at the same time suffer from narcissistic symptoms. Narcissistic disorder is not a separate disorder, but may very well be included in the borderline personality. From what you write, the one thing that make me suspect, that you suffer from BPD is the fact that you are injuiring your self, but there are people meaning, that selfinjuring has become a trend among youth, just as taking drugs in the sexties did. One could also compare this with the trend of eating disorders beeing a trendy fanomeny among yong people. In your letter, you dont talk much about depression, anxyity or selfesteam, which ar very important parametres in order to diagnose BPD at any degree. My advicees to you: Ask your psykiatrist to test you very thorughly for BPD. Search the internet for articles and such about the subject. (there ar lots and lots and lots of material) Fore a period I joined a group of Borderliners in order to lean more about the subject. (I am diagnosed emotional impulsive borderline type). There are also much litterature to be read in order to widen up your undestanding of this area. I am a 54 year old woman from Denmark, so please bear over with my language and spelling. Many regard from Denmark |
