She's a psychiatrist and I've spoken to her quite a bit before to interview her for a paper. Recently my boyfriend and I got into a series of fights and he turned to her. She expressed concern (also knowing a bit of touchy family history about how criminal my lineage is) that I may have BPD. I'm conscious of my paranoia, mood swings, temper and hard to meet expectations. I've never been driven to suicidal thoughts, self mutilation/injury, or even depression. I've never wanted to "kill" people but have on occasions of emotional stress punched and seriously hurted loved ones. Also, at the time of our fight I was going nuts with my mood. However, I was just about to go into my period and am going through a stressful time (family problems and exams and work). My question, I guess, is if she's entirely justified in thinking this? |

You can talk to hundreds of psychiatrists and chances are they'll all tell you something different. But here's what I say, BPD very complex. Most people with BPD can go from suicidal thoughts to thoughts of happiness in a minute. But everyone's different. I think you should get a second opinion from someone who isn't as close to you. Hope this helped! |
