I was reading this book last year. by an author Eckhart Tolle. I was just wondering because it has a lot of tools to deal with conditioning of the mind and finding happiness. Ive forgotten about it for awhile and gone back to my old habits, thus my mental anguish. Check it out if you're interested. The reason why I brought it up is because I think that suffering has its place in society, we are the people who really live, not those people who have average lives and face no pain.

It's a great book! As are all Tolle's books. They have had a real impact on me. Also recommend anything by Jon Kabat-Zinn. :)

Amazon has it at a pretty good discount. =)

If I'm understanding correctly, the book focuses on accepting the lows as well as the highs, understanding the purpose of suffering, and so on? Is that accurate?

Ive never actually thought of it in that light before but yes!Acceptance. Because through accepting the present moment(lows or highs) we experience lesser suffering from the lows (ego is being burnt up) and of course our highs are much more intense. And the purpose of suffering is elaborated as being the means by which ego will be burnt up- BUT suffering in an awakened state. Its beautiful.

I haven't read that book in particular, but I actually teach that stuff to some degree now and will be teaching it officially when I receive my title of Reiki Master. Not just Reiki practitioner as I am now (most are practitioners few make the commitment to go to the level of Master -teacher)

Fallenangel: have you experienced a level of enlightenment? :)
