| Does anybody create "fantasy worlds"? By this i mean, constantly daydreaming about the perfect life, being with people you want and being popular etc. I have very very intricate fantasies, like, i almost have a 2nd life in my head sometimes. Afterwards i always feel crazy for thinking up such elaborate scenarios. | |

| I do. I have fantasies all the time. But depending on my mood, my fatasies can be really horrific. I do have good ones too, but not as much. | |

| I wasn't quite sure other people did this besides me. Good to realize I'm not the only one. In mine it has little drops of reality in it that somehow(at least in my mind) make the fantasy world somewhat plausible. I have this elaborate fantasy world I always resort to when I'm bored or driving or trying to fall asleep. Even when I listen to music I think of myself preforming it, as if it was a song I wrote, and fit it into my world. | |

Another one here. I imagine elaborate scenarios and the problem is, I sometimes do this in public. I find myself drifting away for a minute without realizing it. |

| Wow, this sounds completely like me. While I'm listening to music while trying to fall asleep, I fantasize about having the perfect life. I think about having an amazing social life, being financially successful, having fame either by music or acting. During these fantasies, I'm in an extremely good mood and my endorphins will be off the charts. The next morning and a few days after, I'll sink back down to the depression I was at because in reality, nothings changed. I'll contrast how much different these fantasies are from reality and that really hurts me the most. What I want to do is learn how to resist having these fantasies because it only leaves me in deeper pain and grief afterward. | |

| I create fantasies in my head ALL the time. I especially picture this fantasy of me with a really great guy who loves me and we are out to a party or hiking and camping together. Then I picture myself smiling, making people laugh. Of course, NONE of this is true. I spend 90% of my time alone, with my dogs. When I do have to be around people, it's usually not by choice (i.e. work or a family b-day party that I would rather not go to). | |

| i do the same, In my head they are fantasies of what could have been if things were different... if i'd never made mistakes in my life and let go of things i wish i'd never. And it just seems like my life could have been so perfect! But then there's fantasies of seeing myself dying or whatever which aren't very pleasant. But it's all the time, my mind is quite vivid, i really feel like im there, but more like i'm watching over it than experiencing it. It's really strange as i just really started having theses sort of fantasies this year. | |

| yeah, been having them for many years now. probably about 4 or five. very vivid in detail. varies between things like being famous, really talented or sometime quite horrible things. i would describe myself as more of an observer in life. | |

I have them all the time too. For as long as I can remember. Luckily, I've started to get my AVPD under control in the past few years. I still have all sorts of fantasies, but now I actually put some effort into making them come true. And, for the most part, it's working. I've made friends, I've taken up new hobbies that I'm good at, and I'm even doing exciting things like going to South America for a year. So, at this point, I no longer think of them as "escaping reality". I think of them as inspiration for reality. |

Okay I do this to....how do we stop it. I am a Christian and I don't ever feel right about the fantasy world. Idk it just feels very wrong, but it's like an addiction sometime and I can't just stop. How?? |
